Contacts

Enquiries are handled by email

Email is the single channel for reaching BIRD & GORTON LTD. It keeps the details of an enquiry in one place, gives both sides a written record from the outset, and allows a considered reply rather than an immediate one. There is no contact form on this site — a message sent directly reaches the same place with less friction.

What to include

Useful detail for a first message

None of the following is required. Each item simply reduces the number of clarifying questions in the reply and makes an early, honest answer about fit more likely.

  1. 01

    The situation

A short description of the system or process involved, and what is currently difficult about it.

  2. 02

    The outcome sought

What should be true once the work is finished, stated in operational rather than technical terms where possible.

  3. 03

    Existing technology

The platforms, languages, hosting arrangements or third-party services already in use, if these are known.

  4. 04

    Constraints

Any fixed dates, regulatory requirements, budget boundaries or systems that cannot be replaced.

  5. 05

    Who is involved

Whether there is an internal technical team, and who will make the decisions about the work.

Typical enquiry categories

Most messages fall into one of six kinds

New system enquiries

A process, product or internal tool that needs to be designed and built from the beginning.

Integration enquiries

Two or more systems that must exchange data reliably, or an API that needs to be designed or consumed.

Existing system enquiries

An application that is difficult to change, slow, expensive to run, or dependent on unsupported technology.

Review and advisory enquiries

A request for an independent technical assessment, a second opinion on an architecture, or support with a platform decision.

Ongoing engineering enquiries

A need for continuing maintenance, security updates and steady improvement of a live system.

General enquiries

Questions about how the company works, how engagements are arranged, or whether a particular piece of work is a reasonable fit.

Privacy note

How enquiry messages are treated

Information sent by email is used only to understand and respond to the enquiry it concerns. It is not added to a marketing list and is not shared with third parties for their own purposes.

Please avoid sending credentials, personal data belonging to other people, or confidential material in a first message. If sensitive information becomes necessary later, a suitable arrangement for handling it can be agreed first.

A request to delete correspondence can be sent to the same address at any time.
